Experienced Event Compere & Quiz Night Host

My name is Ian Scott. I have been a professional compere, event host and quiz master for over fifteen years. Working for such prestigious organisations as Jaguar Land Rover, Burberry, BP, Financial Times, Countryside, Siemens and Lloyds Bank International, I have built up a very solid and highly respectable customer base and, in almost every case, conduct their annual quiz night events.

My grounding as a professional DJ for over 25 years means that facing audiences large and small is no problem for me. I conduct each and every quiz night event in a laid-back and welcoming style, adding humour and light-hearted banter to the proceedings. Having experienced numerous quiz nights where the host merely reads out questions in a dull monotone manner, I realised that by simply adding warmth and personality, the whole quiz becomes more inclusive and encourages even the hardest hearts to join in.

On a personal level, I have always loved a good TV quiz show, having grown up watching such classics as Mastermind, Ask The Family, A Question Of Sport and even Screen Test way back in the 70’s on children’s TV. They all played a part in my inspiration to become a quiz master, as do the modern crop of excellent UK TV quiz shows, such as Pointless, The Chase, etc. In fact, I even appeared on Tipping Point early in 2017, scraping through to net a cool £3,000 for my troubles!

I regularly get asked, “What are your best subjects?”…well, I’d have to say I’m pretty good on music of all genres and ages, I love films (particularly the geeky ones like Star Wars and Marvel) and I’m not too bad on geography or football. However, I fall flat on my face when confronted with reality TV questions or anything on Shakespeare!
